Hey gals,
Happy Saturday to you, whether you’re going out or staying in tonight – have a good one!
Today I wanted to talk about my love for London designer label Rixo. I had heard of the label for about 2 years but had never tried a dress on or considered buying one. Until last month a friend of mine got me to do just that and I instantly fell in love and ended up buying 3 dresses – my credit card took the brunt but it was totally worth it!
Since buying the dresses, I have worn 2 of them on 2 separate occasions and felt super glam and received some lovely compliments and questions about where my dresses were from.
Rixo was founded in 2015 by London College of Fashion alumni friends Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McClosky. Their inspiration for their designs comes from their love of vintage (like me; see my previous post ‘Say Yasssss to Vintage’!) and you can see the love, passion and amazing skill in design that goes into each beautiful piece of clothing.
So onto the dresses although they speak for themselves really…
The Midnight Dress…
As you may have seen, I wore this to a ball 2 weeks ago and absolutely adored being in this dress. The design and detail on this is incredible. The deep v-cut looks rather daunting initially but the clever design of the dress means that just the right amount of chest is revealed and made me feel sexy, classy and stylish at the time. The bottom half is then hugging at the hips (maximise those curves I say!) and then further down loosens and becomes more floaty so that it’s easy to move in. Then there’s a slit up the middle showing just the right amount of leg. The fabric is pure silk and feels so luxurious and comfortable when worn. The sleeves are then long but not too restricting so you can put your arms up, let loose and have fun – exactly like I did at the ball!
I had so much fun wearing this dress and will definitely be wearing this again, I just love love love it!
The Blossom Tree Dress…
This was the other dress I wore to a cocktail party last month. Again I had a lot of people asking me where it was from, the print really captures your eye. This dress is a classic short, slightly fit and flare dress and ‘uber’ comfortable. The sleeves are long and floaty at the wrists then the dress finishes just above the knees making it the perfect length and not too short. Then for the back, the best part of the dress, usually I avoid backless dresses as I don’t particularly like my back but in this dress, hallelujah it’s looks alright! The cut out is cleverly designed so that floating fabric covers the back in just the right places – now you wouldn’t get that on the high-street! This print is also available on their website right now in a long version.
This dress is perfect in both summer and winter as it can be worn easily with or without tights – almost like two dresses for the price of one!
The Summer Dress…
Then finally the summer dress, I haven’t had the opportunity to wear this dress yet but my friend is getting married next month so I am planning on wearing it then and I can’t wait. This is the perfect summer dress in the perfect summer print. The colour is beautiful and unique with an oriental jungle print design. It’s another low v-neck (a Rixo classic design element) but like with the other dress, is the perfect shape without revealing too much. The sleeves are long again but loose fitting and comfortable and then there are 2 slits either side with slight pleats down the middle, another dress perfect for dancing in! This exact dress is available on the Rixo website right now so what are you waiting for? I cannot wait to wear this this summer!
So I hope I inspired you with these dresses to go have a look on Rixo’s website (www.rixo.co.uk) even if you can’t afford one right now, the dresses are so beautiful that even inspiration window shopping is worth it here!
Ps, this truly isn’t an ad, I just love sharing my purchases and wear and when I’m wearing them to!
Lots of love xxx
