Hey girls,
Happy weekend!
So it’s November, can you believe it! I do love this time of year in the lead up to Christmas. The shops have all their glitzy decorations in the windows and brands are shouting from the rooftops about party wear. We start to think about what to wear to the office Christmas party, Christmas night out with our mates before we all get the train back to our parent’s houses. Cocktail party at a friend’s house where we’ve got to try and be sophisticated when it’s basically ‘pre-drinks’, let’s be honest. Drinks with all the relatives including grandparents and Aunties and Uncles who’ve travelled from the opposite end of the country and lots more invites going into our calendars right now.
On the topic of party outfits, it’s my sister’s 21st birthday today; happy birthday Jemima! By the way, if you read my other blog post back in August then you’ll know my sister had a big birthday bash in the Summer but today is her actual birthday. Just like the Queen my sister. We’re all going out for dinner tonight and I’ve got to figure out what I’m going to wear. So I thought I’d try on some outfits at home and show you a few of my favourite party outfits from inside my wardrobe, it might give you some inspiration if you’re struggling for a party outfit.
(FYI excuse my messy bedroom behind, my boyfriend is actually half asleep in bed as I’m trying on party outfits haha!)
I absolutely love this dress from Anthropologie, the rose gold sequins with that velvet pink waist belt is just gorgeous. I’d wear this with either bare legs or skin coloured tights and heels.
It’s online and in stores at Anthro at the moment – link below…

It’s got a printed slip dress underneath and then this sheer organza oversized dress over the top. I’ve also worn this pink dress with black jeans and a black t-shirt (without the slip underneath). It would look amazing with boots or heels and I’d go skin coloured tights/bare legs again. I’m quite particular about wearing black tights with outfits, sometimes it works and sometimes the tights just kill the entire outfit. I’d rather freeze a bit outside with bare legs – classic Brit! This is also online at Anthropologie right now, go check it out…

Then this jumper is SUPER old but I still love it. Sequins are always a yes from me. With a pair of boots or even heels, this outfit would work for that kind of party that isn’t super sophisticated and you need to wear something a bit effortlessly cool. It’s also super warm and comfy for those cold Winter nights!
You might have seen me wear this skirt on my Instagram a few times, it’s just absolutely beautiful. I wore it to a ball in April (below) and also dressed down in the Summer with a t-shirt and trainers (below). But for Christmas parties, a polo neck and a pearl layered necklace would be perfect. No need to wear tights as it’s very long, just a pair of black boots or heels and I’m good to go!
This dress I wore yesterday with a polo neck underneath, sparkly tights and my Dr Martens. I love the colour and texture and the shape is uber comfy and easy. For a party I’d dress it up a bit more and wear without a jumper underneath and with a pair of heels.
Close up of my sparkly tights that I got from H&M the other day and my dress…
Then a girl can never go wrong with a classic LBD. This velvet cord with puffed sleeves is so cute, I couldn’t resist, it’s a must needed staple! It’s in store at H&M right now.
I wore this outfit the other day but that sequin top and black jeans with a pair of heels, perfect party outfit!
Then of course, I can’t forget my absolute gem of a dress that I bought in Philadelphia last month, read last week’s blog post for more info…
Then lastly, my collection of Rixo dresses that I’ve invested in over the years. Rixo is a British designer label that specialise in beautiful printed silk dresses. I always wear these a couple of times a year and I still love wearing them as much now as I did when I first bought them, they’ll never go out of fashion…
So once I’ve figured out what I’m wearing, it wouldn’t be complete without a headband of course! These are my favourite Winter party headbands to complete my outfit…
So, I hope that’s given you a bit of inspiration ahead of this party season!
I actually really need to start getting dressed for a day out and evening tonight with my sister and family as I’m going to be late, whoops! (Sorry Jemima).
Have a super weekend whatever you’re up to girls, lots of love! Xxxxx
