Spring Shopping

Hello!!!

I haven’t written in a couple of weeks, sorry, It’s been a manic month what with my Grandad’s funeral, commuting from Norfolk to London and then skiing for a week with all the family. I am now back from skiing but leave again tomorrow for another ski trip, with my boyfriend. Very lucky to have two full week ski trips I know. So there won’t be a post next weekend as I’ll be gliding down those slopes and stuffing my face with lots of yummy food and drink (again!) ⛷🧀🍻 Definitely going to need to go on a health kick when I get back.

Anyway, can you believe it’s almost March! Even though the weather has been sh*t I am definitely feeling Spring vibes and definitely beginning to get bored of my Winter wardrobe. The high-street has got a lot of new season Spring goodness so to celebrate pay day weekend I went to the shopping capital (literally) on the dreaded Oxford Circus, I know WHAT was I thinking, and checked out the shops. So let’s go shopping…

First of all H&M where the SS20 Studio collection has just launched. It’s been all over Instagram looking fabulous on the likes of Emma Louise Connelly and Nina Sandbech. Unfortunately it didn’t look quite as good on me, unless you’re super tall and skinny then I’m afraid this collection is rather limited. I couldn’t even take a picture of the poorly fitting clothes they were that bad. But they do look good on the model…

I love these trousers and matching shirt but the trousers on me were so baggy and tight at the same time; they weren’t sitting on my waist or my hips. She looks great in them though.

This blouse looks and feels beautiful but on me it just drowned me and made my waist disappear, such a shame.

I did try on this beautiful dress, the colours are insane 😍 But again it didn’t do anything for my shape really. It was just a bit too baggy and draped too much for me.

I would have tried this set on, especially the wide leg trousers, but they weren’t there unfortunately. Beautiful print though and an awesome colour combo.

So the Studio Collection failed me, but I did find some joy with the new arrivals that are part of the main range…

Loving this denim pencil skirt and yellow sweatshirt! Imaging with flat-form sandals in the Summer but it looks good with my Dr Martens too. With a denim jacket over the top as well, I’m feeling that 2000s Britney look.

I took this little dress home with me, it’s so cute! It’s one of those pieces that is so effortless and comfy. I can’t wait to wear it in the Summer with sandals and accessorise it with a headband, earrings and a bright lipstick (my essentials obviously).

I love this little shirt in a gorgeous mint colour with sheer puff sleeves. It had a completely sheer back which stopped me from buying it as it’s a pain to figure out what bra to wear with it etc but it looked cute with this little skirt. The ditsy print is so adorable with hints of purple and green (great colour combo) there’s a lot you could style this with in terms of colours. It would work all seasons as well with tights underneath in Winter and a jumper tucked in and in Summer with sandals. I didn’t purchase this but I might have to go back for it in a week if I keep thinking about it 🤭.
(I can’t find both items online I’m afraid).

So next I popped across the road to Topshop, who have 20% off everything today only…

I saw this amazing green PU full skirt on the mannequin and had to try it on. It looks so awesomely 60s with this little puff sleeve white blouse. It’s quite light when wearing it and was easy to move in, I thought it might be quite heavy. You just wouldn’t want to get hot and sweaty in it! 😬

Not the most flattering on me but I love an orange and pink combination and ruffles are so on trend right now. This is an easy yet stylish number for the Summer.

Then I totally fell in love with this little mini dress! It’s definitely trying to be a Rixo but who cares, it comes without the hefty price tag. I sometimes struggle with Topshop mini dresses as they are SO short but this one wasn’t. I wouldn’t be worrying about flashing my bum walking down the street (I definitely own a couple of dresses who are culprits for that). I didn’t buy it but if it’s still available nearer to Summer then I’m going back for it for sure.

This one isn’t actually new in, it was on the last chance rail but I’ve wanted it since before Christmas and never got round to popping into Topshop. I just love the colour! I’ll wear this all year round for sure. Again, another easy dress shape that I can just throw on effortlessly – the best kind of getting dressed in my book.
(The dress has sold out online now FYI).

Then lastly I headed to & Other Stories. I’m normally a sucker for anything they do but actually I was struggling to find anything I like. They’ve gone in a very smart tailoring way for Spring with lots of suit sets in beautiful colours but not really me. I always love their jumpers and there are some rather beautiful ones in lilac but I definitely don’t need anymore adding to my enormous pile in my wardrobe (definitely obsessed with knitwear). I did however see this boiler suit…

I needed the next size up really but it’s awesome.

So a successful shopping trip, treating myself to some goodies after a difficult month. I try to not shop too much as I have a huge wardrobe already but with regular chuck outs to charity, on Depop and in the recycling I feel I can add a few things back in occasionally.

So whatever you’re doing this pay day weekend girls, have a good one!

Lots of love xxx
